I totally get this. I rarely headcanon my ships as having kids, and if they do, it's not something I want to focus on at all. I'm just really not into the whole "domesticity" aspect of shipping, and it doesn't get much more domestic that starting a family.

Also, can I just say that it irks me how there is sometimes a double standard with stuff like this when it comes to the YKINKMATIOK principle. Like, all manner of extremely dark stuff gets vociferously defended because "fiction" (which I support) but god forbid you write out the baby in one way or another. Suddenly it's like, "Wow, you have issues. That was their BABY, for god's sake!! What the fuck is WRONG with you?! You must fundamentally lack empathy or something!!"

To be clear, a lot of the time the same antis hating on dark kinks are the ones freaking out about how gross it is to write out the characters' baby. In which case, I literally don't give a fuck, they can think what they want. But there definitely is also some degree of doubt standard where stuff like cheating or writing out a baby is seen by some of the pro-ship crowd as somehow more of a stress test for the YKINMKATIOK principle than like, underage noncon gangbang or whatever. And that's bullshit. Neither is inherently or objective more or less valid than the other.

I... have never seen people in my own personal ykinmkatok crowd get upset about that. Not to say I don't believe it happens, just that it is SO weird to me, when I know mostly child-free pro-shippers who would be the ones writing out the baby.

Same. I just think that kind of thing is really boring. I back button out of any fic that has my ships have a kid, if it wasn’t tagged, and I don’t read them if it is tagged. Just seeing “the baby”, “their child”, or anything like that is a deal breaker. I do like kids irl and would like to adopt one day. But I don’t read fic to see my ships be parents, I get nothing out of that.

yeah I see a lot of people obsessing over certain characters being parents and it always confuses me because it really does nothing for me.

The reaction my timeline had when we learned this one character had a daughter still confuses me and it's been weeks.

+1000000 maybe some people are lucky and havent seen this in their fandom but i definitely have. And like, look at the secret! Even on f!s that's like 95% proship, OP feels the need to say they "know it's terrible." Nah OP, you're fine. Like what you like!
