I’ve never disliked fandom words more than the time years ago I was talking to someone about scary things in video games, and they mentioned “the gorram wind” when talking about a game I hadn’t played yet. I imagined this crazy and awesome concept where the wind itself was some kind of unseen monster that kills whenever it blows. It sounded so cool!

Then I found out “gorram” just means ‘god damn’, and the person who used it was a Firefly fanatic who inserts references all over the place even when it doesn’t fit... I like my version better.

S!B: It’s silly to still be so annoyed and disappointed about this. And Firefly didn’t actually invent the term anymore than Battlestar Galactica invented ‘frack’. I’m just salty that there wasn’t any murder wind.
