(Anonymous) 2022-11-02 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)There is some interesting thought to have about how the author dismisses the Netflix show about HS bisexuals as straightwashed because all the characters are super boring/moral and insists that real bisexuals are real people who can be messy and imperfect but *also* takes five minutes to discuss one lesbian character making a joke about coming out as a transman and how it probably doesn't mean everyone involved is a bigot. Like, it's almost a case study in why queer media is getting more and more sanitized without realizing that they're demonstrating the trend themselves.
It's rattling around my brain, but I can't quite distill it down to 280 characters.
(I'm not saying the author is wrong to discuss the joke, just that by making a big deal of it they've hit on this thread without weaving it into anything.)
