I have no issue with Eddie and Nancy being friends, trauma brings people together lol.

I do kind of hate the whole 'Robin and Nancy are suddenly gay' thing in Steddie fics though. Like... Robin likes Vickie! Even if Jonathan and Nancy fall apart, you don't need to make Nancy bi just to put a bow on things...

Problem is Vickie has basically no canon characterization so she's functionally an OFC when she shows up in fic. Of course if you're just doing pair-the-spares that's not a problem.

And I will say, while I'm generally ambivalent about Ronance, it's really not that hard to make it work.

AYRT I have seen some fics where it was well done and some where it was UGH terrible, it just seems weird (imo) for suddenly everyone to have a sexuality crisis when Robin has a canon crush who seems just as weird and dorky as her (for what we see of her in canon).

It definitely is very hit or miss. IMO it tends to work well when it really leans into Badass Terminator Nancy. I think that's a fun dynamic with Robin.

But, yeah, fundamentally the biggest reason that people do it is simply that Nancy is the only character with significant screentime that it really makes sense to ship Robin with.

I like Vickie but as said above we barely see her. I haven’t read any Robin/Nancy fics yet but I can see it working. That said I am not into “pair the spares.” I especially don’t see any reason Robin would have to be with Nancy to make a Steddie fic work out. Steve isn’t with Nancy currently anyway.

There isn't any reason whatsoever but a lot of people just really like the idea of the four of them being a big gay friend group. at least I assume that's why the whole "fruity foursome" thing is so popular
