Because some people have taken it upon themselves to resize and resubmit every single secret from the past week or two, confusing a lot of people who are seeing them twice and calling them repeats, etc etc --

New rule.

N!S, N!F, TB, (and any other secret linked on the main post) will now be considered repeats upon resubmission. This doesn't apply to secrets that get eaten by LJ or accidentally missed, of course, so don't worry about that!

Here are all the secrets you would have had to see twice this week (not counting the additional 10 or so from yesterday's post):

Also, please read the rules before submitting anything to this comm. Especially the one that goes: 7. Once a secret is submitted, it will be posted. Be sure it's something you're comfortable revealing, even anonymously! Please don't PM me to find your secret among the 600+ others and delete it. From today onward, I'm just going to ignore it -- you did have fair warning. And here is another one.

it amuses me that people are so desperate to get their secret into submission cue that they can't take the time to make sure it is posted correctly (too big secrets, I'm looking at you). and if it's a n!s or n!f because the mod deemed it that way, give it up and accept that your stupid secret was just too dumb.

Except people don't seem to resubmit secrets marked N!S or N!F.

Also, does this rule include secrets marked N!F that are actually for a fandom (such as the recent Lost/The Prisoner one)?

Question: I have the feeling I posted my secret in the right submission post, but a good while ago, and I see the submission post appearing on my flist as a fairly more recent post than I remember. Sorry if I'm not really clear, but I'm just wondering if I have to post the secret twice.

Thank you for doing this. It is so frustrating when I take the time to click on all the n!s and n!f secrets just to find out that I've already seen them.

Are people resubmitting their own secrets, or are people resubmitting other people's secrets that were rejected for size issues, or are random secrets being resubmitted to clog the queue?
Or - possibly - a mix of two or three of the above?

I think F!S shouldn't tamper with secrets either. I submitted one and when it was posted, it had been resized as well as words added onto it. Wtf, guys.

That wasn't me, like I said -- somebody has been taking and resizing/resubmitting secrets from the past week or two. Possibly just to be annoying.

Seriously. That's all it takes. It will show up as a broken link to F!S and THEREFORE WON'T GET POSTED!

Doing that makes it a bit obvious who you are, so even though it makes it easier to "take back" something you posted...well, I guess that would be the only advantage. :/

So if we were to say post on a sock or rp account or something and delete the secret we don't want posted ourselves before you get to it, would that mean it won't get posted? Or is it a once it's in your inbox, it's going up thing?

I close the old subs post once the new one goes up (so no one posts in the old one accidentally), so you'd have up until it closes to pull it, if you're going to do that.

The best way to make sure that something doesn't get posted is to save the image codes / save the 'delete' url from the host choose and delete it off the host itself (it'll just be a broken link, then).

What about secrets that ARE secrets but go into the N!S pile for whatever reason? Sometimes I see a secret classified as N!S when a very similar one gets put up in the post, and the only difference is that the accepted secret says something like "My flist would stone me!"

If they redo the secret to look drastically different, I'm assuming that doesn't count and will be posted, right? Because otherwise that would be a whole other problem.

Also, what about when the same picture is used again and again with really similar secrets (I'm looking at you Dr Who and Supernatural) doesn't that just lead to a really similar problem?

If it's a whole new secret, yeah, sure, that's fine. Just not the exact same one resized or whatever, since people have already clicked it and seen it (the ones that do click them, anyway)

They're similar but not the same, so I can't really call them repeats.
