(no subject)

Because some people have taken it upon themselves to resize and resubmit every single secret from the past week or two, confusing a lot of people who are seeing them twice and calling them repeats, etc etc --

New rule.

N!S, N!F, TB, (and any other secret linked on the main post) will now be considered repeats upon resubmission. This doesn't apply to secrets that get eaten by LJ or accidentally missed, of course, so don't worry about that!

Here are all the secrets you would have had to see twice this week (not counting the additional 10 or so from yesterday's post):

Also, please read the rules before submitting anything to this comm. Especially the one that goes: 7. Once a secret is submitted, it will be posted. Be sure it's something you're comfortable revealing, even anonymously! Please don't PM me to find your secret among the 600+ others and delete it. From today onward, I'm just going to ignore it -- you did have fair warning. And here is another one.

This is not up for debate.

If they redo the secret to look drastically different, I'm assuming that doesn't count and will be posted, right? Because otherwise that would be a whole other problem.

Also, what about when the same picture is used again and again with really similar secrets (I'm looking at you Dr Who and Supernatural) doesn't that just lead to a really similar problem?

But a not fandom/secret one may be slightly changed in order to make it a fandom/secret. We already have plenty of secrets that are very similar so, I'm not sure how not allowing them helps.

Resizing/linked wrong, yes. Nothing changes there except the size. But the others change the wording, so they aren't really all that different from a 'new' secret that's slightly different.

I'm not bawing or anything nor am I going to flounce or hate on you (lol at the mouse above), but I'm just trying to clear things up. Because a lot of people don't actually read the ones at the bottom, so the argument that everyone has already seen them doesn't really apply, because only a few do.

Maybe it would be better to make a post at the end of the week with all the NF/NS links (don't care about linked wrong or TB) etc that people can't comment on but that has the links for people to search through for their missing secret. Then allow them to reword and report. Also, it allows for easier checking if someone claims that you missed their secret etc.

That way, people who aren't missing secrets can ignore the post and not read things twice. It's just that there is sometimes a very fine line between secret and NS or fandom and NF. Some people put a lot of work into their secrets and asking them to completely 'do over' because of minor semantics (I understand why you have them) seems kind of... mean?

Then not post them at all? Just keep them in a folder for a week after the final post so you know where to look if anyone asks where's my secret? I've never really seen the point of posting them in the first place really.

Maybe if they aren't posted at all you might find people being more careful.

Also, would it be possible to put a warning about using photobucket in the submissions post? Or making a post warning about it? I feel really bad when I see people naively using it.

I know, I'm just being irritating. Last post, I promise :)

If I did that, then most people would probably ask for their secret then resubmit it anyway, leading to even more work eventually.

And there is one on the userinfo -- actually most questions people ask ARE on the userinfo or are linked to on the userinfo

"5. Be sure to include all warnings that apply to your secret-image along with the comment. Also, you are responsible for knowing where the link to your image goes; we will not take the blame for broken links or any wank created by someone else discovering who submitted a certain secret."
