Thinking that the USSR did good things does not in and of itself make one a tankie. And this guy, apparently, doesn't even think they did good things.

I mean I would personally call myself an anti-communist but I don't think everyone who describes themselves as a communist is automatically outside the bounds of reasonable belief.

That's exactly what makes one a tankie. And this guy, as I said isn't really a communist. Most westerners who call themselves communists, from what I've observed, are actually just anti-american/anti-capitalist and since "communist" is a convenient label for someone against american valuse, they've co-opted it and revisioned it as the best thing ever while ignoring actual history. It seems to be similar with this guy since he's presenting communism as the better option.

Thinking that the USSR did good things does not make one a tankie. Thinking that the USSR did good things, *and* that therefore the gulags and the purges and the genocides and the invasions of other countries to force them into the Warsaw Pact and on and on and on were all justified and even good, is what makes one a tankie. The second part is actually the crucial part of the definition.
