I saw someone point out earlier that a lot of the votes for Walker were not so much because Walker would be a senator they could believe in (I doubt very many people would say, after seeing all the evidence, that he has either the values or the intelligence for it) but because if they voted for him, there was a chance that the GOP could take control of the Senate.

If it's a foregone conclusion that the GOP will not control the Senate, that takes away the one reason many voters voted for him, and they may stay home.

So here's hoping... I mean Warnock is brilliant anyway, and Walker is terrible, but these sorts of things don't even matter anymore if you have the right/wrong letter after your name. :/

There were a lot of split tickets, i.e. people who voted for Kemp (R) who also voted for Warnock (D) instead of Walker (R)-- everyone in the state knows Walker's unfit and moved back to Georgia specifically because Trump wanted him to run for Senate. The only people who voted for him are those for whom Republican hypocrisy and cruelty is the point. Those that split the ticket likely did so because Kemp managed to wash the Trump-stink off and we didn't have an explicit abortion question on the ballot to draw as strongly motivated a crowd as some other states.

We needed Stacey Abrams. We needed Bee Nguyen. The only consolation is that at least Kemp and Raffensperger have a history of not being insurrectionists, but only because the first attempt was so fucking ham-fisted that they didn't even have a scrap of plausible deniability. The next coup attempt won't be as fucking stupid and Kemp and Raffensperger have already shown that they'll use every (legal) tool in their arsenal to suppress and deny the vote to as many people as they possibly can.
