If for some reason you had to re-name yourself after a fictional character, which would you choose?

Leia. It sounds normal enough. And I've been obsessed with her and seen her as a role model since I was a kid.

I'd pick a name to demonstrate my extreme undying devotion to my fictional beloved, of course.

So maybe, Pepper Potts, or Winifred Burkle.

I think Winifred is a really cool name.

I think you'd feel pretty damn silly going through life telling people your name is Pepper Potts, tbh, so Winifred would be the better choice there, even though it sounds like someone's great grandmother.

Amity Blight, because I loved the name Amity even before the character and Blight has a bad meaning but still sounds cool. It's also just a couple letters off from my real last name.

Christine Daaé, but that's been done already.

I know too many Christines and Christinas to do this, even if Christine Daaé (forgot her last name, she got married at some point) hadn't beaten us to it, heh.

Listen, I know Ayn Rand's philosophy is a garbage fire. And that for all it was already a garbage fire from the start, the people who have latched onto it have added their own toxic flammables to said garbage fire and made it ten times worse than it already was. I know. I am aware. Corporate capitalism is a toxic, suffocating, inescapable scourge.

But if my name were Dagny Taggart, that would be fucking dope. I mean, except for the part where everyone would assume I was a Randian, Objectivist, fiscal Conservative dipshit. That part would be less dope.

I just like the name, is what I'm saying.

I actually did name myself after a fictional character, but only a few people know who and why, and I'm not going to expose myself here. But if I had to do it again, I...have had this tab open for half an hour struggling to think of something. I want to say Carrie Fisher, but she's not fictional, and if I named myself Leia I bet it would often get spelled or pronounced wrong, which is part of what I changed my name in the first place to get away from. Mhrggh.

I have a co-worker named Leia, and I'm the only person in my department who consistently pronounces it right (because I am always thinking, "Oh, like in Star Wars!" though I haven't told her this), so unfortunately I have to say your fears are justified, nonny. Hopefully the name you already chose is working out better for you! :)

Not a fictional character, but man, Finn Wolfhard is an absurdly cool name. I'm a woman and I still wish my name was Finn Wolfhard.

Joke over, I'd probably pick Mint from Contact (DS game). I always thought that was a cool name.

I go by Sam nowadays and the real reason is because of Samwise Gamgee being my favorite LOTR character :'D
