It looks like OP didn't realise how porny it was, and after avoiding engaging with their mutuals who were into it for so long they feel like it would be awkward to bring up their enthusiasm with them, but also the other fans seem more into the porn than the plot so they've no obvious circle to squee about it in.

I might check this out - I'm not into risque games, but if it's got a good plot I can be persuaded.

But... it explicitly advertises itself as being a hardcore porn game, that's the entire selling point. It's not like you don't know what it is going into it. It's so porny that it can't even be on the Google Play or iOS stores, you have to download it directly from the website.

Exactly. Like, sure, maybe it's got an interesting plot too, I wouldn't know because I don't play it. But let's not pretend it's the plot that's what attracts people to play it, everyone I know who is into it is there for the explicit sex because that's what it markets itself on.

I don't know anon, there's been times I go in for X and end up staying for Y. Hell, I might even fast forward through the sex just to get to the plot, as flimsy as it could be. It just be like that sometimes. Go in for the titillation, stay for the narration.

This. Also, there are things that are supposed to be porn, where the writers go off on incredible tangents. Like, "I would not even know where to find a story that had this as a major element, but I also didn't know I needed it in my life until I saw it" tangents. So that's nice.

No, I wouldn't be upset that the majority of fandom is there for the smut. But I'd be frustrated that I can't find someone to squee with over the same things I'm getting excited about. And I'd probably be annoyed with myself for fixating on the one thing no one else is giving a shit about lol

my roommate plays it, so I know it has zero plot and even the sex is kind of boring. she plays it for the increasingly improbable costumes and the addiction to fulfilling dailies. otherwise, she's the first to admit it's pretty dumb. not awful, just painfully dumb.
