Re: your last couple of lines - I think personal preference is a good reason, though. If it's not to your taste, and getting increasingly off-putting to you, that's a perfectly good reason to not feel into reading it anymore.

You are right. I guess I've been a little chagrined about the fact that "Is this feeding my Id?" and "Is this hitting my kinks?" are probably much more important factors in fanfic, for me, than "Is this well-written?" But you're right that there isn't actually anything wrong with that. I don't have to like something just because it's well-made.
