My perception of these terms. YMMV. Share yours!
(Anonymous) 2022-11-16 12:07 am (UTC)(link)A woobie, for me, is a character whose pain and vulnerability I find particularly poignant and who I feel emotionally protective of (while also probably enjoying their suffering). A character can be a woobie in canon, or you can woobify a character by playing up their suffering and vulnerability, making them more sympathetic, etc. The crux of the woobie is suffering and vulnerability (whether overt or hidden).
A cinnamon roll, to me, is a character who is too good for this world, too pure. Often they suffer, because it’s easier to show how truly good a character is by showing that they remain kind, empathetic, genuine, considerate, etc., even when the world does not reward or encourage their goodness. However suffering I not inherent to the cinnamon roll character. A cinnamon roll is defined by their deep-seated, selfless goodness, typically marked by a lack of self-righteousness or moralizing.
And TBH, I don’t think I’ve ever used the word blorbo personally, though I like it well enough. But if I were to take my best guess at defining it, I would guess it simply refers to a a character one favors heavily; a pet character one is distinctly attached to. The most general of the four terms.

(Anonymous) 2022-11-16 12:10 am (UTC)(link)These are excellent definitions, I couldn't do better so I'll just agree with you and nod enthusiastically.

(Anonymous) 2022-11-16 12:26 am (UTC)(link)For me the key of cinnamon roll is less actual purity or goodness, and more by just being a cute little guy. He's so little, he's such a little guy, he's so cute, he's such a cinnamon role. Not so much moral purity as cuteness.
and blorbo, as I understand it, means a character that one is obsessed with. It's simply the fact that you're attached to them and you project them into as many situations as possible - it's really not saying anything about the nature of the character, merely the fact that you are obsessed with them. Like, if all of your favorite characters are dolls, your blorbo is your favorite doll that you play with constantly.

(Anonymous) 2022-11-16 05:58 am (UTC)(link)One of my friends uses blorbo, and had to explain it to me, and according to her it's someone you love dearly and identify with so strongly that you can't really tell if you feel like they are you, or they're "just" the person you're the most crazy about.
I wish there were a different word for that shaded space between deep recognition and intense love, because this one sounds to me like what came out when someone very drunk tried to talk: ugly and clumsy.
