Has anyone been following this news? Two people have been killed by what they're saying were Russian missiles. Poland is NATO and I'm freaking out.

I've honestly been expecting to hear about an assassination, or an assassination attempt, at the very least, at some point. I've no doubt there are plenty of people plotting or talking about doing such a thing right now, be they civilians or people in positions of power.

as long as you’re outside of Europe and won’t be drafted if WW3 breaks, I don’t see the need to freak out. as someone who’s dealt with existential anxiety and constantly worrying about the state of the planet and things, there is little to do or worry about in times like this.

our grandparents sat huddled around the radio wondering when war would come to them or they’d go, but we have more choice now. we can acknowledge that yea, it’s shitty that it happened and Russia denying it was one of theirs when Poland borders Ukraine is shitty, but if you’re in an overseas country you have nothing to worry about.

War in Ukraine has already caused supply side problems, and prices to shoot up, and the more of Europe gets involved, the more those problems will spread to the rest of the world.

Also, quite a lot of people on F!S are in Europe, including quite a few night owls.

tbh I agree. jaded genxer who did nuke drills in elementary school; this won't escalate like the doomsayers claim. at best, Ukraine finally gets the no-fly zone they've wanted all along.

shit's fucked but not nearly as fucked as 2001 or 1992 or 1941. we have no idea what the worst looks like.

But really. Freaking out does not help you. Live your life, if you are European help refugees if it's a thing you can do. Think how you can get warm etc. If you are not European you can do nothing at all. So live your life the best way you can.

Apparently they were saying something wrong, which is why you never rush to repeat a news-rumor that is unsourced or only backs up your prejudices, it was Ukraine's missiles that went off course and not Russia. Ukraine bombed Poland, it seems.

My understanding was that Ukrainian rockets intercepted a Russian rocket and the debris was blown into Poland? I don't think it's accurate to say in such a situation that 'Ukraine bombed Poland'

It's not accurate to say Ukraine bombed Poland, and despite what that person says, no legitimate news organization is claiming that Ukraine bombed Poland. I don't know what they're talking about.

That was the early info coming from legitimate news sources. All the info wasn't known yet, but it's not the same as spreading misinformation or something. Also kind of ironic that you're scolding someone else while saying "Ukraine bombed Poland".
