"I absolutely do not want to reach out to a fandom that I can only assume is made up of horny fangirls"

What part of this sounds like the words of someone who's just sad they might have missed the boat and not totally not judging the rest of the fandom?

This. It's a horny game, of course the fandom is going to be largely made up of horny fangirls, and yet OP is trying to act all sanctimonious about it.

AYRT

It's probably too late to respond, but oh well.

The part where I saw OP missing the boat was the first part of the quote/sentence that you didn't include. I'm not there with OP to know what tone they used when writing that, and I can see how some people find it sanctimonious, as the anon above me posted. I, personally, didn't find it judgmental. And I say this as a person who'd likely be in the contingent OP is trying to avoid. They could have phrased it differently to avoid sounding, as many have said, 'judgmental', but again, maybe it's also personal interpretation. I'm not reading it like that because sometimes I'm not in it for the horny fandom, other times I am, and I just tend not to care/associate with the parts of fandom that seem to take issue with what I'm enjoying.

And if they are being judgmental, well...shrug. they're certainly posting in the right forum -- much better than them pooping on the horny part of fandom's party. Let them be judgey. It doesn't sound like they're having a good time and that's their problem. The rest of their fandom seems to be having a great time. Again, as someone who's been the lower echelons of fandom (aka everyone criticizes it, acts like it's the bottom rung) I suppose I'm just immune or don't care. Or OP would have to be deliberately disrespectful. They don't want to chill with horny people and that's fine. Be it from disgust, thinking they're better, whatever. It's a them problem, not a my problem. And I don't see the point in getting work up, ya know?
