But him being a scared closeted gay kid wasn’t really telegraphed prior to that reveal. Not in the way OP said it was with their comparisons to Kylo Ren who was. That’s why AYRT said Karofsky’s reveal wasn’t telegraphed. The only way Karofsky can be considered to have his “redemption” and him being a scared closeted gay kid be telegraphed is if people go by the stereotype that every raging homophobe is a gay person in the closet. But that’s really not true most of the time irl. And the implications of people assuming it’s true are really backwards and not helpful to anyone. Sure, fiction isn’t reality. But I think anyone assuming every fictional homophobic bully is actually a closet case is being just as backwards. It happened to be true in this case, like it’s true sometimes irl. But it’s not the case more frequently. So I don’t believe Karofsky was telegraphed to be secretly gay just because he was a homophobic bully who targeted an openly gay kid more than anyone else.

I meant telegraphed from when his storyline began in Never Been Kissed, not when he was just Bully No2 with Azimio.
