Agree, secret-writer. I actually really enjoyed the latest Thrawn trilogy (the one about his time in the Ascendancy before his exile) because despite all his strategy stuff... he was a really shitty Chiss. Like, just straight up did Chiss war crimes (and Earth ones) and while there were a few characters who were falling over themselves to fawn over him, there were several in important positions who didn't take his shit.

And honestly, they were right not to. I love the character but he's definitely more Gary Stu now than he was in the 90s and I appreciate when he gets called on his shit and/or makes big fucking mistakes in the text.
