op here and I'm lady-passing. I've mostly been to European cities and up along the eastern border close to Romania, so your usual places like Paris, Prague, etc. I find as long as you greet/say goodbye and can say a few phrases in their languages people are friendly enough.

honestly, the most I've ever been bothered was when a group of teens complimented my iphone at 1am in the morning in a McDonalds in Amsterdam but I was with a couple of fellow travellers so I just got a bit annoyed. nothing compared to the group of teenagers I saw in the bus mall the other week crowding around each other and hollering.

Thank you for the response! It's always cool to hear about other's travel experiences. Your secret resonated with me because I don't feel particularly safe in my hometown either and like traveling either lol. I hope I get to travel too and see what other places are like too. Thank you for the recs. ;) I hope you get to travel again soon.

I hope you do! People in other countries tend to be so nice and warm, and it’s always interesting to explore and immerse yourself in another culture in the place where the culture is born and created. I’m hoping to go to Egypt next year, which is way out of my comfort zone temperature wise.
