Just to clarify - it's my intention to make all the secrets left in this thread, so even if they're not marked claimed, they will be made.

Short answer: yes.

From my experience of Tumblr-based fandom, people are infinitely more invested in making sure random strangers on the Internet know that their take is Wrong than in actually enjoying the thing they claim to enjoy.

Fandom isn't about liking or disliking a thing any more. It's about liking or disliking the people who like or dislike the thing.

there's this one youtuber who's really into the mythological lore of a book series and how it will impact the end of the series. but he's really territorial about his theories and doesn't really like a lot of alternative theories. so my worst fandom behavior is to comment on his videos with very! enthusiastic! engagement! which also says at least one thing I know annoys him (I know because he's replied in a really annoyed tone lmao). it's very mild and I actually like a lot about his theories so most of my comment is that...but do I feel a bit like I'm doing Crowley's method of demoncraft? Yes.

Just watched the first episode of Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities and while I get the very thinly veiled message, honestly... as much as an asshole the main character was, I find it more evil to indirectly kill someone on purpose than being an asshole towards people.

It amuses me to no end when Kaeluc antis have profile pictures of the main characters of Heaven Official's Blessing or 2ha (just to name two examples).
The hypocrisy is astounding.

I remember the time when admitting that 2 was my favorite was sacrilege. I get less pushback against loving 2 now, but some character stans can get reaaaaal pushy if you don't love their faves.

Overzealous fans of anything are awful though, no matter the fandom or website. Stans of a character in the cdrama the Untamed have migrated to tumblr from twitter and are trying to take over a tag that was created specifically by a smaller subset of fans of a certain character because they felt unwelcome in the main character tag and it's a full on shitshow.
