Re: Random Genshin Bug (Viktor's quests in Mondtstadt / Spoilers Signora)
(Anonymous) 2022-12-04 02:14 am (UTC)(link)Yay, glad to see other Genshin anons!
For the Snezhnaya namecard, two different quests need to play out successfully (and with a different line choice) a minimum of three times, each. With Viktor, you have to ask about the Fatui, the delusions, and the Taritsa, and bring back the thing he asks for. If you haven't gotten the Telling It How It Is achievement, you're still missing one of the dialog options. With the fat merchant, you're under a really unforgiving time constraint. When my brother did that quest, I think he actually set up a temporary teleport point next to the Tsarevich. Aside from killing the hillichurl that'll run over and try to accost you before you start the quest. In any case, the achievement for that one is the aptly-named Perfectionist. Both of those together unlock the namecard. And, like. Tons of people haven't. There used to be a problem where the RNG dropped them ridiculously seldom, but it seems to be appearing more reliably after Sumeru opened.
Huh. That's ... looking to me like they're probably both by the same artist, trying out more light and then less light and seeing which version they like better. Particularly because of the little star in two different styles on the right, and the one that's missing or present over his other eye. Especially since the https://ibb.co/QHM5p0K one has much less polished hair-lines and less detail on the shading. I'd agree that the placement of the shadows is still kind of nonsensical in the Twitter pic, though.

(Anonymous) 2022-12-04 03:47 am (UTC)(link)Hmm IDK. I have seen the “eyes with tree shadows” thing far too much in AI art which is one of my reasons for being highly suspicious (the others being the random teals and the differences in style).
Re: Random Genshin Bug (Viktor's quests in Mondtstadt / Spoilers Signora)
(Anonymous) 2022-12-04 04:05 am (UTC)(link)There are definitely quests that are buggy. I hated the one with the storyteller who couldn't remember part of his story in Liyue, where two people out of a possible three dropped randomly, but for months, the one that didn't drop was the one I could get the achievement from. So frustrating. But as far as I know, the Snezhnaya one works. It's unreasonable how little time they give you to kill everything and report back to the Tsarevich, to get the "it's adequate" assessment from him, is all.
Re art: Well, I could be wrong. That shadow pattern is kind of nonsensical compared to the hair and the contours of the face. And it bugged me that there's one shadow where I'd expect the lock of hair over one eye to cast one (if somewhat thick and darkly done), and no such thing around the other. But, like. My impression is that images someone grabs from the internet download in a single layer, and having to paint over those bright stars and redo the hair lines manually would be pretty tedious. Whereas, as the original artist, you can make your sparklies on a separate layer, first off to get a general idea of where they might go, and then replace them in a more serious, polished way. So with the really asymmetrical five pointed stars, vs. the Genshin specific primogem star shapes ... it looked like a speedpaint and a detailing thing. Even though I thought the shadows in the pic that seemed like it might be AI-ed to you weren't at the same level as the overall piece.
Re: Random Genshin Bug (Viktor's quests in Mondtstadt / Spoilers Signora)
(Anonymous) 2022-12-04 09:10 am (UTC)(link)I JUST MANAGED TO FINISH THAT DAMN STORYTELLING ONE. Like, yesterday. I actually knew the name of the female NPC that never got tagged on the map for the quest and searched for her in the past and actually found but couldn't talk to her. Tried again when I got the daily again after a long, long time and now it worked, even though she still wasn't tagged. So they seem to have finally patched it... halfway.

(Anonymous) 2022-12-04 09:41 am (UTC)(link)Oh, man. Yeah. That storytelling quest is cursed or something. /half-joking
Congratulations on its being done, though.
Re: Random Genshin Bug (Viktor's quests in Mondtstadt / Spoilers Signora)
(Anonymous) 2022-12-04 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)Hmm, it's just a feeling I have. The first art (the bright one) has simpler lines and is more expressive (ie. brows, the smile is compatible with the blushing, plus it has a consistent scribbly lineart style for the whole thing and stars/sparkles and so on, and so forth). For the second (darker) one, it's less expressive, the hair strokes seem needlessly detailed for a scribble (like they spent far too much time on making something that feels like a scribble but isn't) but at the same time, the lower ends of the hair and hand are still very scribbly. What really made me suspicious, though, was the "tree-like shadow" (one thing I have realized is popular with AI art because it's common in popular art as a visually interesting effect but AI art doesn't get the *purpose* of it) as well as the completely random teal strokes in the eyes and hair. It's kinda hard for me to explain any further but it's a feeling thing. As someone who draws and has brain impairment issues I feel like I would be able to do the second one but not the first one (hence why I saved it in an "art inspo" folder). Of course, it could be manmade plagiarism too. Wow, sorry this was long.
