I basically agree with you. I'm not going to lock down my fic. I get kudos from guests who may not have accounts and I'm not going to give that up because a bot might scrape my fic. (Or make the guests give that up, not that I'm trying to imply that my fic is a gift to the world.) I've also heard that the bot(s) in question can't write actual stories from the stuff they collect, though I'm not sure if that's true or why. I get why people are freaked out at the idea that bots are collecting their fic, but the more I hear about it the less freaked out I am. Also I'm not sure what exactly they would want to do with my 300-word Pyramid Head/James smutfic, but I'll grant that I may only say that from a lack of imagination.
