People think that, if your fic or art is included in the training set for an AI, the resulting output of the AI is derivative of, or even plagiarizing, your fic or art.

I don't understand the underlying technical systems well enough to know whether that's true or not (I frankly doubt that 99% of people talking about it do, either).

Huh, interesting. I personally wouldn't complain about AI taking from my fic, since I'm already messing around with someone else's universe without permission and feel like I wouldn't really have the right. But I could see how others would find it annoying or frustrating to see parts of their fic/art in some AI generated thing.
