Re: How are people feeling about AI bots and AO3?

Yeah so, about this having happened for awhile, upon hearing this news, I immediately thought of a couple years ago when I was writing a remix of one of my old fics (same story, some of the same scenes, but from a different character's perspective) and just for kicks I let one of the free word count pages run a grammar/whatever check on a chapter I fed into it - and was startled to find that the page thought that it was highly likely to have been plagiarized.

After trying to figure that out for a while I realized it was almost certainly recognizing some of the same dialogue and similar descriptions for the action occurring from the original fic I was remixing which has been sitting on AO3 for 10 years.

So I mean... as much as I'm not thrilled about it, I'm assuming it's already too late, people have been doing this kind of thing, anything public on the internet has always been at risk of "the wrong person/bots/etc." seeing it.
