So much this.

A fandom friend of mine was a longtime friend of one of the guys Hare was studying when he formulated his much-abused psychopathy checklist. (I don't know if they still interact after she moved.) They started hanging out together when she was very much underage, and she would sometimes joke with him suggestively because he was oddly offended at the possibility that she would think he had any sexual interest in kids. Textbook psychopath in every other regard. Years of trouble with the law for violence, made his wife and kids cry in a premeditated way for fun. And still bought into the notion that the REAL scum of this world are pedophiles. I didn't know that particular configuration of dangerously-uninhibited-but-what-doesn't-tempt-me-is-so-judgment-worthy was IRL possible, but it made me laugh when she told me about it.
