Yup. Fuck this workday too, I guess. I hate feeling lost but also feeling like such an asshole to need to ask anything at all, because I'm expected to fucking know everything, apparently. I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. God only fucking knows what curveballs they might throw. And even the stuff I'm aware of, I'm sure I'll just fuck it up like I always do. No matter how much I review the shit, it seems I don't know what the fuck anyone is every talking about. Christ. Just stop sucking shit, work.

My friend makes wild financial decision after another wild financial decision. It's her money and life. But I am tired of listening about her yet another fancy course and I am tired that I can't even go with her to see a movie or something because it's "too expensive" and I can't afford to pay for everything every time. She keeps living like she is some golden child with a wealthy parents and not a person without a steady job. That's... frustrating

But also this should have been a no-brainer, considering that one of the candidates... well, is sort of literally a no-brainer.

After much careful consideration, I'm changing my official Star Trek series rankings. At long last, TOS has moved up to the top spot. Congratulations to TOS.

Furthermore, I've decided to leave DS9 in the #2 spot, meaning that TNG now falls to #3. I realize this is a crushing disappointment for TNG but I have to live my own truth.

I read the Kaeluc reddit post an anon recently recced me (by the way, thank you, it was excellent!) and people brought up all sorts of interesting things in the comments, and someone linked to an article about how, before it was legal for gays to marry, an unknown number of people managed to get some of the benefits of being legally recognized as next-of-kin through adult adoption. And, while I'd never heard of this particular thing being associated with gay people, there's a long history of people who would be in deep shit if they were recognized as lovers hiding their actual relationship under the pretext that they're family.

More relevant to fandom, there's also a history of stories coming from countries where gay relationships are openly portrayed as such, being censored into stories that look incestuous because the translation went "they're sisters" or "they're cousins" or whatever. When they were actually nothing of the kind.

I remember learning about this in the early 2000s. What always struck me is how impossible it would be to "divorce" in such a situation. And thus I've always had a weird longing for a story about a bunch of "siblings" who are all exs of the same guy. And then they have to split an inheritance. And then they fall in love.
