I can sort of relate. I loved The Lion King a lot as a kid, and had all the lines and songs memorized, and then I rewatched my VHS copy one time after coming back from uni, and felt terrible because I just didn't connect with Scar anymore. He seemed petulant and ineffectual instead of brooding and magnificent, and I felt like such a traitor for having somehow lost my empathy for this character, in between. It was a weird and disturbing experience.

honestly it's to your credit that you had empathy for him as a kid.

AYRT

I loved him so much as a kid. And it's not that I can't empathize with him at all, but ... I stopped being able to look up to him, and I never expected that to happen.

But I hadn't thought of it that way, so thanks.
