Favorite Rarepairs

What are the best rare pairs of all time, and why?

All of them because creating for something that isn't popular is admirable in and of itself.

(Angelus/Caim. Because what is a man but a fucktoy for a dragon.)

lmao Drakengard. I was really hoping with the popularity of the NieR franchise people would rediscover this old masterpiece Yoko Taro wtf-ery.

To fan over a ship there should be either a lot of fanworks or a lot of canon. Without any food it's a short affair. I can't even remember any rarepair at the moment. Maybe Cawley/Bodie from the Pros.

You’d think, but I’ve been a fan of the same rarepairs for over a decade, with little to no food, fanworks or canon.

I've been obsessed with the Cronenberg film Eastern Promises since its release and shipping the characters played by Viggo Mortensen and Vincent Cassel... and recently I found out people have been writing fic over the years!

Seriously? It's my favourite movie ever!

Do you have some recs?

YES! Lmao I still had most of these open in various tabs. They're all stories that were written in the intervening years since I last checked in on the Nikolai/Kirill fandom something in 2012:

https://archiveofourown.org/works/4453634
https://archiveofourown.org/works/4449335
https://archiveofourown.org/works/13443333
https://archiveofourown.org/works/17041385
https://archiveofourown.org/works/540137

Which is proof that you should never give up on a rarepair from an obscure fandom.

Steve/Wanda in the MCU.

Bucky/Zemo in the MCU, but not the way most of the fandom ships it.

616! Steve/Bucky
