Sorry you're having a tough time with your new dog. I understand what it's like, when I got my dog it took a while for us to really get each other. I'm not so much a dog person, but I know someone who really loves dogs who told me their dog took about six months to really settle in and seem to understand that this was their forever-home. I think it's normal for it to take some time, don't be too hard on yourself for needing it. All the best to you both :)
