Yeah, no. We had that conversation and collectively decided that Nazis were bad. The fact that some of you want to have a discussion about “well, sure they went too far but maybe they had some points about the money” does not merit a new dialogue.

I think that's a fair summation of the state of affairs in English-speaking countries following World War 2

Not that literally every single man woman and child got together and agreed to it, but it was an extremely strong social norm shared by nearly all the population and actively enforced

I don't think so. And even if that were the case, you can't expect people - who weren't even born when the war ended - to just nod and agree now. Or rather, you can, but they aren't.

Actively enforced with education and messaging, and only when governments finally found the political will to do so. Which is why it's particularly dumb to say, well we settled all that shit in the past and don't need to bother talking about it anymore and if you do, you support Nazis.
