It's a shame you can't find a D/s AU that works for you. :(

Personally I have a bunch of ideas for D/s AUs that go further than just "Dom is Dom and sub is sub", some of which explore the things you like about A/B/O. The kinky sex is great but I also really want to go into the social and cultural side of it--what does consent mean in the context of a D/s AU, how does X character deal with the fact that he hates being sexually submissive but needs it, what happens when a Dom or sub doesn't get what they need sexually (do they get ill? and if so, what do governments do to make sure everyone can get laid the way they're supposed to?), what happens when there are too many subs for the number of Doms, or too many Doms for the number of subs in the population, what happens when the government makes suppressants illegal because it's "unnatural" (probably a very pertinent analogy you could make with that one)...agh, I have so many ideas and so little time to write them all. :(

I'm sure these are all/mostly fairly commonly explored in A/B/O fic, but I just don't trust any A/B/O fic to not spring m-preg, knotting and feminization on me because that's just...part of the genre, I guess.
