I sort of see your point, but I'm not impressed, because the mainstream wants fandom's creative energy without the sexual transgressions, without the controversy, without the empathy for villains, without the joyful rule-flouting, without the obsessive depth of character identification, etc. In short, without all the stuff that makes our space unique and unmistakable. They want the appearance of something, without its heart. That's not a good bargain for any of us, and that's also no way to tell a good story.

Why would someone be around Fandom!Secrets if they didn’t actually care about fandom? Fandom is not all the things OP/you described it as for everyone, nor should it be a universal experience. Stop gatekeeping other people and their fun, and let people enjoy fandom in their own ways.
