Yeah, to me it's just an added bonus or a bad nightmare* if something becomes canon.

*By bad nightmare, I mean they make my ship canon and somehow fuck it up.

This. I mean sometimes it's fun to joke around about "Did you see how they looked at each other in Episode 5?" but for me it's always just for fun, not because I need a ship to be canon.
