I just recently rewatched this--I'm curious that you saw it as sexual. I tend to be really sensitive towards that, especially in vampire narratives, but the way we've seen this creature feed--its animalistic in a way that has nothing to do with that sort of despire/drive. It's all about feeding. None of it came off as sexual to me.

And the creature dying...that wasn't the point. The creature brought the disease to the town, but he isn't the one who truly spread it--it was the people within the town. So him dying/not dying didn't matter as much in the narrative as oppose to what happened to the ppl on the island.

I mean, I guess I can see your point of view, but I fundamentally think you are misreading the text.

That's an interesting point about the creature. It makes a lot of sense.

Except that if the creature dying/not dying didn't matter, then they shouldn't/wouldn't have spent so much time on Erin sacrificing herself in order to cut numerous holes in its wings. There'd be no point to that except to show that she was able to defeat the creature despite slowly dying herself.
