XD;;; Kaoru is one of my favorites, and I actually dislike Hikaru, but I can only tell them apart by their voices. (So in a screenshot like that, I have no idea which is which. Although I'm guessing Kaoru's the one that's lower since he looks less outgoing.) I know their hair is parted different ways, but I'm terrible with directions. Someone told me what it was once, but I forgot to ask if the directions were THEIR left or MY left, so I still don't know. XD;;; I should take notes next time I sit down to watch the show.

They're both boring

THIS. So hard. I never warmed to either of them in the anime, and after getting into the manga I'm just 'meh' to Kaoru but I went straight to disliking Hikaru.

I feel like the only person who thinks Hikaru's a prick most of the time, actually :|

I couldn't really tell them apart until halfway through the anime series, but once I figured out what made them different, they quickly became my favorites. I like it that they can be seen as individuals, not just a matched set.

I could care less which one is which xD But it's pretty easy to tell by their voices in either Japanese or English. It's either, "this-sounding one is Hikaru" or "hey, that's Greg, so that one must be Kaoru"

Pretty sure Hikaru is the one on the right and Kaoru is the one on the left. You can tell by the way they part their hair.

If you're talking manga, I can't say, but if you're talking anime, how can you call them boring? They're one of the main sources of the comedy, and I love how they argue with/torment Tamaki all the time. xD That's just my personal opinion, though.

From what I understand, if they're in the same panel/screen/whatever, Hikaru's usually on the right. Not always, but a lot.

Well, in the anime (subs of course...) Kaoru's voice is a lot, lot softer.

Also, Hikaru's hair is parted to OUR right (his left). Kaoru's hair is OUR left (and his right.)

In that picture, Hikaru is on the right side and Kaoru on the left.

I used to feel the same way, but I must admit, they grew on me after the whole "going over to Mori and Hunny's place to think" chapter.

I don't look forward to more of their romantic angst with Haruhi though. I wish one of the others could have been picked to engage in obligatory but pointless competition with Tamaki for Haruhi's heart. Kyouya maybe.

I just don't get their popularity.
