The thing that gets me worst about him is that he's like... everything I hate about "progressives" who still just wallow in their privilege, and hide it behind humor. No, I'm sorry, it's not okay to be a gender essentialist, transphobic, bigot just because you're left of center. Which doesn't even touch on his entitlement issues toward women's bodies or his fatphobia. Oh, or the fact that he apparently doesn't believe in germ theory or something.
The fact that he claims to be agnostic only makes it worse.
Just, GET OFF MY SIDE. At least insofar as you are or were ever actually on it.
(And yet, I keep watching him. I must enjoy having high blood pressure or something.)

But... dude. Can you please not speculate where I'm getting this from, because you're very much wrong. I apparently have some kind of disease that makes me do stuff I don't enjoy, and I'll own the fact that it's my fault I'm offended if I listen to him. No one's forcing me to. However, I can cite examples of things he's said and done which I feel illustrate the fact that he feels entitled to women's bodies a lot more than just the fact "he enjoys having sex" or finding certain things attractive.
Entitlement to women's bodies? How about telling women not to shave all of their pubic hair, because he doesn't like feeling like he's committing a crime sleeping with them. That's one fairly minor example, but... yeah, it's part of a trend of feeling entitled to things that he doesn't necessarily have a say in. And I realize that it's a joke--maybe I'd be more forgiving if I actually found him funny. But George Carlin, he ain't.

And I never said I expect everyone to share my interpretation. If you hadn't made conjectures about what I was referring to when I said what I said, I wouldn't have replied to you at all. We disagree. That's fair. Whatever. But telling other people what I'm probably talking about, and telling me I don't know what a joke is is pretty not cool.

Honestly, dude, I am not in a huff. If you're reading that into what I've said, you're projecting. Like whatever you want. Bill Maher offends me. I can see why you like him though.

He's said some incredibly toxic things--not in jest--about Arabs and Muslims, and religion in general. And I say this as an agnostic.
He can't seem to tell the difference between telling a joke about a black man, or a woman, or whatever, and making the punchline the fact that someone is black or female or whatever, normally in a way that involves conforming to stereotypes. At one point he suggested the Obamas bring over an African cousin for humor's sake, and proceeded to throw out a bunch of primitive, "spear-chucker" type stereotypes that were just... wow, not funny, AND offensive.
He accuses women he doesn't like of looking like "trannies," which I generally find misogynistic and transphobic.
He trots out his pet issue of obesity constantly, and generally offensively, in ways that imply the only reason people are fat is because they have no will power. He also seems to have a problem with people enjoying food that isn't healthy, which is incredibly ironic from a man who defends alcohol and recreational drug use.
And, yes, at the very least he grossly misunderstands germ theory.
