Let's just say what needs to be said:

If you have a political talk show, period, you should be shot out of a cannon into the sun.

That being said, Bill is one of the worst. Religulous made my screed-meter explode, shooting right past the "Bill O'Reilly," "Penn & Teller," and "Michael Moore" settings. It's too bad, because Politically Incorrect was kind of fun when it started.

The thing that gets me worst about him is that he's like... everything I hate about "progressives" who still just wallow in their privilege, and hide it behind humor. No, I'm sorry, it's not okay to be a gender essentialist, transphobic, bigot just because you're left of center. Which doesn't even touch on his entitlement issues toward women's bodies or his fatphobia. Oh, or the fact that he apparently doesn't believe in germ theory or something.

The fact that he claims to be agnostic only makes it worse.

Just, GET OFF MY SIDE. At least insofar as you are or were ever actually on it.

I don't necessarily judge people who like him, but its nice to know I'm not the only one less-than-impressed by him. He's one of those guys where it's not that i necessarily disagree with him, he's just so goddamned smug he makes me want to disagree with him out of spite.

Ugh, he is! I don't know about "hate-filled" but he is terribly unfunny and has no idea what he is talking about 99% of the time. Dear god. He's a good litmus test though--like kids who watch too much South Park or Penn and Teller's Bullshit. People who should never, ever, be allowed to talk politics. Ever.

Yeah, Bill Maher is basically the Rush Limbaugh of the liberal camp. I find his intolerance and entitled attitude irritating beyond measure.

Funny story: we were supposed to watch his movie Religulous in my sociology class today. First the audio wasn't working at all, then the sound track turned on but there was no dialogue. Finally the sound for the dialogue came on, but the DVD commentary ALSO turned on (and it turns out that the only thing more annoying than Bill Maher being smug and self congratulatory about how he is better than religious people is Bill Maher doing this while simultaneously being smug and self congratulatory about how he didn't take as many pot shots as he could have).

Eventually the dual dialogue/commentary got turned off, but they still couldn't get the sound right so class was dismissed an hour early. I smell divine intervention! ^___^

I enjoy the non-joke portions of his show though. Y'know, when he's not busy milking laughs out of the dry, shriveled up tits of the bored audience.
