Pls put the fandom. There are 5000 shows out and I don’t know wtf this is.

not OP

There's 5000 shows out there but there's only two that feature an immortal detective solving crimes in modern-day New York. Which, admittedly, is still one more than you would expect.

(it's Forever from 2014, for the record)

That one I enjoyed.

Lol!

Given that neither of them lasted more than one season, I feel we are due for someone to give it another try.

There was plenty of information in the secret to work this out. I personally immediately knew what sites they were talking about from the picture alone, despite never seeing an episode.

DA

I’ve seen a lot of this lately. Someone not naming something specifically, but giving out more than enough information to find out what it is, and people getting mad still that they won’t just say what it is. Someone on Twitter was talking about how weird they found it that people aren’t talking more about Miracle Workers, the TBS show. They didn’t name it specifically, but they did say that it starred Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi, and gave a brief summary while saying each season is an anthology format that places the characters in different settings. And most of the responses were people yelling at them for not saying the show’s name. Now, I had already seen the show, so I immediately knew what they were talking about. But even if I hadn’t, they gave so much information that could make for an easy Google search. As far as I know, there’s only one thing that has both Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi in the same space.

So while I don’t quite know why people don’t name the work they’re talking about sometimes, I also don’t get why people can’t just try to look it up themselves with the information given instead of getting on their case for not naming it. If they give no information, then that’s a different story. But that’s not the case here or there.

This secret reads like it was written by the same person that wrote secret 2.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-01 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. I hope the drama on HoyoLab (whatever that is) was about how bad of a show Forever is.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, unlikely - Hoyolab is an app designed by the game dev company Hoyoverse of Genshin Impact fame.

AYRT

I like this even better now. Headcanon accepted lol.

I appreciate this takedown as it affirms my decision to not watch this when it came out.

Love Ioan Gruffudd though.

The reason it failed is obvious: it's a network television genre procedural, when everyone knows that the sweet spot for television shows is the basic cable or straight-to-syndication genre procedural

(Anonymous) 2023-01-01 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I watched two episodes (I try not to judge shows by their pilot after bailing on Person of Interest after its incredibly shitty pilot then really enjoying it later) and yeah, you're absolutely correct. It's bog-standard procedural with one twist slapped on it which is never actually explored in an interesting way. Or at all, really.

I think the people that enjoyed it mostly did because of the lovely relationship between the father, Henry, and his older-looking son, Abe (played awesomely by Judd Hirsch). The were just such a charming and unusual father-son relationship.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
+1 their relationship was hands-down the best part

(Anonymous) 2023-01-02 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, exactly!

The Sort-of-Highlander-Meets-Sherlock premise with pretty leads was part of it, too (for me, at least, and the reason why I didn't need it to make sense) but Abe and their relationship elevated it.

I was a big fan of the show. I put a lot of time and words into fanfiction for it. So even if the OP doesn't care for it, I'm happy to see a secret for it.
