I damn, this was just an example, I missed it.
But really this is an interesting exploration. I mean, FMA is is easily translated on a real life conflicts and histories. I need someone with a better knowledge than me to get into parallels, but I think they ARE there

I think the Amestrian-Ishvallan situation has some pretty clear allegories, for instance...

Xerxes, on the other hand, I'm fascinated by, because Ed and Al are the ONLY people left of Xerxian descent, and they didn't even know it existed. By the time they're born, it's been gone for centuries. It doesn't seem to matter much to them, honestly, but juxtaposed against characters like Scar and Major Miles (and obviously every other character who survived the Ishvallan massacre), I have so many thoughts.
