Is it wrong that I like War and Peace? Had to read both that and Wuthering Heights for AP English. Hated the latter, but War and Peace was good.

I mean, yeah. Even if someone is pretentious for reading War and Peace, which could be true or not depending on the person, you definitely can’t say that they’re half-assed. Unless you’re really enjoying the book, it takes serious determination and dedication to finish it.

Pretentious for reading a book? So what! Reading is never pretentious. I read this book twice, once in a week because I am generally interested in the Napoleonic Wars and because I was getting a divorce and had uninterrupted time to read, at last. Years later, I read it again to remember the good times and to give me more leisure to get through. Both times, I thought it was brillant. If all of this is pretentious, so be it. I'm rather pretentious than a pushover who lets other people decide what they are allowed to do/read or not.

Thank you for making my secret Secret Maker! You picked a really cool layout.

I'm really enjoying the book, I do recommend it. But there's a difficulty in reading The Classics (tm) for fun. I'm sending my roommate "WAP UPDATES" every time Natasha does something dumb and not taking it too seriously. And like, yeah, I'm picking up on how Princess Marya's relationship to her father is like her relationship to God and the oft discussed themes of Great Men and History but I really just want to talk about how borzois are the goofiest looking dogs and I cannot imagine them hunting a wolf. Or how excited I was when I realized that the same guy who tried to romance Marya also tried to romance Natasha (there is one [1] fuckboi in all of Russia and it is he).

It's like, I'm way too silly for the 'serious' fans and there's way too much of a barrier to entry for my fellow silly fans. Other people are making filet mignon and I'm cracking open the bones to gnaw at the marrow. It's all the same cow but I am not invited to sit at the high table.

But yeah, no, imagine a Regency Romance that takes a long aside to talk about how poorly the forty thousand workers owned by protagonist are treated even as he tries to help them. It's like Mansfield Park with a frank discussion of the slave trade. I like it.

there's a very small pool of people who knew and enjoyed the D&D cartoon, know and enjoy critical role, and write fanfic. good luck finding that perfect trifecta.

I've found the cartoon from my childhood in digitized Saturday morning cartoon recordings on youtube. it really isn't as good as I remember. then again I'd be mildly amused if a modern D&D setting gave Eric shit for cavalier not being a real class.

SCREAMS this was my favorite show when I was younger...jr high/HS I don't remember the exact period. And, the first thing I ever wrote fanfic for. In notebooks. In pencil.

it's been a bear finding dvds so I don't know yet if it holds up, I hope it does. but I'm not with you on the triangle, OP, I hated that shit. Lou and Kid deserved each other in all their awkward weirdness.

Trying to call doctor's offices and ask if they do walk-ins didn't work (still booked solid), so I looked up the nearest urgent care clinic and managed to do a virtual appointment. Oh, I'm so grateful that things worked out, got my dang pills, instead of homeopathic stuff. Once again, thank you!
