I've been in the camp, for years, that James Gunn is not to be trusted. (GotG was him pissing all over the original Guardians basically). The recent removal of Cavill, and Ezra Miller still being around, proves my sentiments.

I thought Cavill was removed due to him essentially being redpilled by the Warhammer fandom as he got deeper and deeper into the hobby?

AYRT.

That was The Witcher, I believe.

I thought Cavill being removed literal days after Gunn saying he doesn't hate him should tip more people off to Gunn.

NAYRT

My understanding was that the previous people running the DC movies gave the role to Cavill, then Gunn came in and Cavill wasn't his guy and so he decided to go in a different direction. That obviously sucks for Cavill. But I don't really blame Gunn and I don't think that he did something wrong. The whole point of putting Gunn in place is to let him run DC his own way.

And it's not like Cavill is some brilliant stroke-of-genius casting choice that Gunn is a fool to throw away.

Hollywood is a small town, if word gets out that you are being a toxic douchebag on one set then pretty soon you aren't welcome on all sets. You have to have a lot more star cachet that Cavill currently has to overcome a rep like that.

Then why is Ezra Miller still around?

(Anonymous) 2023-01-06 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
It's not clear that they are still around; so far as I know, they haven't been in anything since their problems started, and while The Flash is apparently on schedule to come out, it hasn't done so yet. And if they do continue to have a career after this, it'll probably be because they put their problems behind them and reach a place where they're able to move forward.

Either way, I don't really get how this is some big pro-Henry Cavill gotcha in the first place.

It's not a gotcha, but it's really weird how you seem so certain Cavill isn't "welcome on any sets" for being a douche but Ezra Miller would be welcomed back because ~they put their problems behind them~ despite having much, much bigger issues than just simply being a douche. Talk about a weirdly skewed perspective.

That is what we are all wondering. Nobody knows. He's done stuff that would get anybody else in the business moved to the permanently unemployable pile multiple times over. I know you think this is a gotcha, but we've all been asking that already for a while. Welcome to the party, it has been going for a while.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-06 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
Again, it's not a gotcha. AIRT just has a weird double standard logic going, looking at their reply.

multiple different anons

I don't trust anyone on that writing team. They've already lied about (and admitted to lying about) so many things. I just expect they are mad that everyone hates the changes they made to the Witcher.
