Out of curiosity, what did you not like about how they wrote Gomez?

I've always like TAF but not enough to have strong opinions, if that makes sense? So I'd like to hear what people had an issue with?

He didn't fit his suit. My archetypal Gomez is suave, an elegant dancer, a first-class fencer... and well-dressed. Sure, maybe he put on weight as he got older, I can buy that, and seeing a stout man doing the elegant dancing and fencing would be amazing.

But he didn't fit his suit. It just felt wrong.

Apparently this is based more on the comics than other live action versions, where he was more sleazy car salesman type.

For the record, I also didn't like Gomez, or the dynamic between Wednesday and her parents. I feel Morticia would never force her kids to follow her own trodden path and make little Mini-Morticia out of Wednesday.

I agree with you. Raul Julia is the standard for Gomez.

Years ago when they announced Oscar Issac was going to play Gomez I was like "Well that's perfect!" and then it turned out to be the forgettable animated one that came out a few years ago.

That's it, that's what bugs me.

She even told to Wednesday that she can be like her hero (her Great Aunt Calpurnia Addams, who was burned as a witch in Salem on 1706 for dancing naked in the town square and enslaving a minister) when she graduated from college first. We never see her trying to make her a mini-Morticia at all before that Netflix serie.

I don't recall the show having Morticia really trying to make Wednesday into a mini version of her. Wednesday came up with that idea on her own just because she was sending her to the same school she went to, and that was because she thought she'd fit in better there due to getting kicked out of normal schools.
