Idk I think you're upset with a subset of an already relatively niche subculture. I've had three OTPs in 30+ years in fandom and only the most recent (been into them less than a year) is two men.

I mean, the other two are het ships and I have a feeling you'd take issue with that, too, but one of the big three or maybe even top two ships in my last fandom was f/f.

If you get mad at slash shippers for being slash shippers who in some cases maybe even lie about just wanting better female characters when really they're all about the white cock and dgaf about female characters unless they get in the way of their fave m/m ship, just realize the migratory slash fandom, or whatever its detractors call it these days, doesn't encompass every fan or all of fandom.

Ignore them. Ship f/f and f/m and f/f/m(onster) and ?/!. Write gen fic about old women hunting trolls and wrestling bears.

Ignore exclusive m/m fans who insist that some day they'll give a shit about their heretofore nonexistent perfect female character. Ignore them. Be free.

And if you're mad that your fave female characters specifically don't get enough love, realize that's a different issue than all fandoms everywhere only liking m/m. When I say I've had three OTPs in 30 years, I've actually shipped way more pairings including some f/f and f/f/m and m/m/f ones, but I need a certain critical mass of fellow fans and shippers to stay really invested in something for the long haul. I might write a f/f drabble or read the one lonely f/f/m fic in a fandom where other pairings have thousands of fics, and then sadly move on where there's more to engage with. And yeah, that feeling can suck, but it doesn't mean that female character centered fanworks don't exist or aren't popular in any fandoms at all. Just maybe not the ones you're into.

"Idk I think you're upset with a subset of an already relatively niche subculture."

But oh god, are they loud and annoying.
