Doing research for music for a character to listen to in a fanfic has convinced me that 1993 was not a good year for rock music, or British music in general really.

checking the track listings for now 24, 25 and 26 (the three released in 1993)... yeah, you may have a point

now 26 is mostly one of the better ones but british music (especially rock) is not well served

There are several different albums that I absolutely love from 1993 but it's definitely not as epochal as the years either side of it. And also I think a better year in America than Britain musically.

It may also depend on OP's definition of rock. There was plenty of alternative and grunge going on then too.

'93 seemed fine to me.

there were a lot of songs from that year I really like although not all of them were done by British bands
