This is me with a lot of the hardcore kinks. But I also like being surprised when I read, so ... *shrugs*

I do feel like being very kinky makes my life as a fanfiction reader much nicer than it is for people who get all bent out of shape about ever reading something they disapprove of. Because I can go into the unknown with curiosity and eagerness. But, for those who want unproblematic, PG fiction, there's a whole selection of uncontroversial, published books. And various religious people make long lists of what you can read without being tarnished, by whatever their standard of that happens to be. So the fact that they aren't specifically catered to by people writing porn in their free time with meticulous content tagging - seems like a fairly minor complaint, to me.

SA ETA: I just realized the OP's secret was about (I'd assume) filmed porn, and its perceived effect on fanfic. If they're saying they're reading stories about lovey-dovey, vanilla relationships, and don't want to be surprised by choking, spitting, or slapping ... I'm somewhat more sympathetic to this than I initially was. I think what kind of sex the characters are having should be keyed into their characterizations. If they would care about consent, that's worth working with, or noting that you're disregarding.

Eh, I guess I sort of agree to the extent that smutty fic being sorta rougher and more intense than you expected isn't necessarily the end of the world. But taste is taste, it's OK to not like that, and at the end of the day, this is the whole purpose of tagging - so people who want it can find it and people who don't can avoid it
