Re: OP

AYRT does not care one bit about whether the person writing rape as a kink is an old dude who created a popular manga or an unknown woman writing fanfiction. They think everyone who writes rape as a kink is bad and supports rape. They would probably tell the women wanting fanfiction that they're doing it because they want to be raped, because that's what most fans who write opinions like theirs do.

AYRT. Eh, I think this is assuming a lot about OP's opinions and intention here. I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt, especially because I regularly see people elsewhere on Dreamwidth earnestly expressing similar opinions. For example, the opinion "I could never get into Harry Potter because there were so many problems with the ethics of the story and the way it portrayed [women, fat people, villainous characters, etc.] that it should have been a huge red flag that JKR was not a good person. I am not at all surprised she turned out to be a TERF" is SUCH a common one to encounter in fandom that it's almost a genre of literary commentary in and of itself and has generated its own response-genre of "Please guys, stop saying this. There are issues with the morality of Harry Potter that reflect badly on JKR, but also it IS a significant part of the story here that JKR was radicalized by TERFs after writing Harry Potter and it's important to recognize that the process of radicalization is a thing" type responses. (And I kind of think they're both at least a little bit right?)

Anyway, I'm very used to seeing the opinion casually thrown around that you can predict an author will be revealed to be a terrible person based on the flaws and themes found in their fiction. This secret seems like it's applying a very analogous/similar kind of literary/author criticism, just to other authors. Although I disagree with it, it's not a very unusual approach to fiction, in my experience, and certainly not restricted to the most hateful of antis. I've encountered it from long-time friends on Dreamwidth.
