The pornbots didn't go away with the porn ban. They've been around in small numbers the whole time. The main reason they're flooding the site now is because of all the twitter refugees -- that much fresh meat combined with the fact that half of the new people think follower count means something on tumblr so they're leaving the bots alone instead of block/reporting means tumblr's now a bot buffet.
