I honestly don't get the sentiment that tagging fanfics spoilers them. The entire appeal of fanfic is that the readers know what they're getting into, usually because they're specifically looking for it. Do you also refuse to write a summary and rate the fic? Because those too can give readers a hint of what the fic is about.

IDK, to me it definitely does spoil things. I don't WANT to know what I'm getting into! That's half the fun! If I pick a fic to read because the summary looks interesting, I don't want half the plot spoiled for me with the tags because I want to be able to read it for myself and see what happens. Summaries and ratings are different - they aren't spoiling specific things that are going to happen in the story.

Like, one of my favorite fics ever involved a major character death and knowing about that ahead of time would've ruined the entire impact of that chapter.
