I’ve run into a lot of OFMD tattoo fic. Part of me is like, Stede wouldn’t get one his whole brand is being a gentleman! The other part of me is like, Stede would totally get one he wants to be cool and pirate-y.

Oh, I can see both sides of this one! Personally, I don't think Stede would think to get a tattoo on his own but I do think he could be easily talked into getting one and at that point would have to be talked out of getting the biggest, gaudiest tattoo he could think of.

OP - Literally chuckling at this because it's so true! I think I can go either way with him, and I don't think it would bother me if a fic had him get a tattoo (though I definitely think it would be one that would be hidden by his clothes). I can sometimes be okay with a character getting a tattoo if it makes sense for them; it's more the Tattoos As Kink trope that I really nope out of. Like, I can honestly see Ed thinking that Stede having a hidden tattoo was really hot, but I just can't get into it myself; my brain refuses to drop into the "tattoos are hot" headspace.

I think Stede would very easily pop into the "tattoos are hot" headspace because it's one of the (many) things he finds so attractive about Ed. I think he'd get lowkey fascinated with them, and think it's a very handsome and roguish and piratey sort of look. But he could be afraid of needles! If he ever does get one, I think would be something to commemorate his relationship with Ed once they get back together and hash everything out.
