I'm guessing that anti cop ppl are upset about judy cause she's a terrible cop who did morally corrupt things to further her goals.

Op is saying that her bad choices are what make her character interesting and was a pivotal point of the movie?

Op or others correct me if I'm wrong, it's been awhile since I've watched Zootopia.

I've never seen the movie, myself. The more I hear about it, though, the less I want to watch it.

Well.... The movie plays it off as a bit of a shrug moment I think. And she's ultimately presented as the hero of the story.

In retrospect it's sort of the if you think about the implications the more fucked it is lol.

Yeah, sounds like 'copganda'.
I don't really support the 'she's more interesting this way' thing, though. A character doesn't have to be awful, corrupt, evil, etc., to be more interesting. Not in the hands of a good writer.

I'd hate to discourage you away from Zootopia, because it's an incredible movie and I love it. Judy starts off as this force of absolute order, enforcing the letter of the law with no regard for the spirit. Then she breaks HARD, and she starts doing anything she can think of to solve the problems in front of her. In the very end, it seems like she's balanced out enough to become a "better person," but I'm not sure she's "good," and I don't think that's the point. It's more like she's a microcosm of Zootopia itself, and her development represents the battle for the city's soul.

Breaks bad, you mean. Threatening suspects with death if they don't comply (comply or die?), and working hand in hand with acknowledged mob bosses for favors is a bit more than just breaking hard.

If she becomes a better person, tell me how she acknowledges threatening suspects with death was a bad thing? Tell me how she overcomes her racial prejudice without reframing the others as being sorry and now being good-ones instead? She learns nothing, the narrative bends over backwards to reward her for her bad behaviors and beliefs.

....does she? "Force of absolute order" is not how I'd describe a newbie cop trying to prove her worth, no matter what.

That's.... that's the point of copaganda. "Oh, they did something horrible but it was with good intentions of helping regular people, so it's okay! Cops are your friend!" Every copaganda media has cops doing inherently awful things: lying, breaking into places, stealing, torture, murder, looking the other way for "good" criminals, etc. The whole point of copaganda is to make us think this is laudable.

Tortures suspects, engages in racial profiling, conducts surveillance without a warrant, entrapment, quota-bagging, harassment of citizens, reckless endangerment of non-police individuals during a chase conducted more for the adrenaline rush than the value of the items. But don't worry, she's a good cop. And it is only "anti-copaganda" to point out that this all conditions children to accept these behaviors from a "good" cop and anyone who disagrees has to be a criminal. Want to scream "woke" too, while you are at it, coppy?
