The Mon Mothma stuff is definitely a bit GoT. All those dull machinations. Bring on the space wizards.

Eh. Star Wars has been embracing boring political maneuvering as plot since the prequels.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-24 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
my bad, i didn't realize george rr martin invented palace intrigue

(Anonymous) 2023-01-24 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
George Lucas would NEVER have written dull political intrigue

(Anonymous) 2023-01-24 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Lucas remembered to at least add space wizards into the politics.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-24 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Is that really all this comes down to?

(Anonymous) 2023-01-24 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-24 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Lmao

See, the machinations and the non-wizard characters help the Staw Wars universe feel more real to me. I was never all that attached to the Jedi, even though they are cool and obviously the main appeal. I like getting to see what everyone else is/was up to, how the Force manifests, what effects the Space Wizards (tm) have on everyone else, etc. It gives the space wizards, when we see them again, way more depth and connection to the universe.

(Anonymous) 2023-01-24 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly this. The Jedi are just a tiny, tiny fraction of the Star Wars universe and IMO not even the most interesting part. I want to see the REST of the universe and how the people who aren't Jedi live, what things are like for them, etc.

This, absolutely! After watching Andor, it's actually kind of wild to think about the Jedi existing in amongst it all. As someone who's never been super jazzed about the Jedi, they feel so much more awe-inspiring once you factor them into this much more grounded and complex world.

AYRT "awe-inspiring" is such a great way to put it! You see exactly how they got so mythologized so quickly, too, and how their manipulation of the Force is so incredible (especially when the "will of the Force" so to speak is still /used/ in the non-jedi plotlines. It really is all around in this universe, and that makes the space wizards not just cool, but /necessary/!)

(Anonymous) 2023-01-24 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I never realized this before Andor, but the space wizards are my favorite part of star wars. So I'm with you, Space Wizards Anon. More space wizards pls!
