Still Starker. I was just reflecting the other day on how I'm coming up on four years of them being my OTP. At the time I actually came here to ask for recs, and while I didn't get any, I'm glad I asked because it means I can go back to that post and be like, yup, here's where it all started. Lol.

The 'why' for this ship is definitely complicated. It's a very complicated ship and that complication is a big part of what I love so much about it. I guess at its core, I love that--with the way I ship it--it's a genuinely loving and tender relationship...made almost entirely out of red flags. I love that there's no solve for it; there's no way to make it fine that this very middle-aged billionaire is sexually involved with an eighteen-year-old he's known for four years. I love that Tony is someone who has an almost obsessive need to protect the people he cares about, and he needs to be around Peter to protect him--but at the same time he recognizes himself as a threat to Peter, so he shouldn't be around him. I love that Peter is stronger than Tony both physically and emotionally, but it still doesn't nearly balance out the power dynamic (nothing really can, except time). I love that despite being deeply problematic, in a lot of ways it's the most wholesome ship I've ever had (they both just want to protect each other and make each other happy)...but then also it's absolutely filthy, just wildly horny, with one character being a teenager with super-senses and zero refractory period and the other being a (reformed) world-famous playboy. Just...yeah, there's a lot of aspects to this ship for me. A lot of contradictory parts that beg for reconciliation while defying reconciliation, and I love that. XD
